Description

Position Summary:

The Maintenance Technician is a diversified role responsible for supporting the general upkeep of our Oakland, MD location in the areas of production support, groundskeeping, painting, and other trades (e.g. electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and welding). This position is an opportunity for a motivated individual to grow as a professional in the building and maintenance trades in a fast paced manufacturing, retail and office environment. Along with maintaining a clean, safe and functional work environment this position should be willing and able to learn how to troubleshoot, install, and repair building support and production equipment, following the lead of more experienced maintenance technicians.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Daily preparation and loading of the glass pellet mix used in the production of our glass

  • Perform regular preventative maintenance on machines, equipment, and plant facilities (e.g. changing filters and belts, greasing bearings, monitoring equipment performance)

  • Buildings and grounds maintenance (painting, drywall, drain cleaning, framing, mowing, shoveling, etc)

  • Use a variety of hand and power tools, electrical meters, and industrial material handling equipment including a forklift, crane, hoist, glass crusher and mixer

  • Proactively help identify and address maintenance needs

  • Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work area

  • Help maintain daily, weekly, and monthly preventative maintenance checklists

  • Under the direction of a supervisor, perform required maintenance and service as appropriate

  • Perform occasional janitorial work as needed

  • All other duties as assigned

Qualifications Required:

  • Motivated to learn

  • Possess basic electrical, plumbing, and carpentry skills; welding skills a plus

  • Must be able to lift up to 100 lbs

  • Ability to work some overtime hours and be on-call

  • Must be motivated and able to work independently

  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

  • GED required High School Diploma preferred

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
